BREEAM® (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is the largest sustainable building rating system in the world, with 200,000 buildings certified and over one million registered. Recently expanded, BREEAM International, (a subset of the original UK BREEAM process) allows for the assessment of any sustainable building, anywhere in the world.
Launched in 1990, BREEAM soon formed the basis for numerous other rating systems that followed, including LEED®, Green Globes, Green Star, and other like systems. Unlike the United States’ LEED system, BREEAM uses licensed organizations to approve, monitoring, and assessing individual BREEAM-rated structures. With this stringent system, any BREEAM-rated structure not continually meeting standards may see a removal of its BREEAM rating.
Asian, European, Middle Eastern, and North American conglomerates, with global asset portfolios of sustainable buildings, can now be compare, contrast, and assess through the standardized BREEAM International system – considered the World’s foremost system among industry experts. BuildingWise is proud to offer consulting services in this rating system and expertise to its international clients.
